been reading about Kierkegaard
05.31.05 (2:04 pm)   [edit]
man what a phenomenal dude. he has inspired me.

these quotes for example:

"anything that needs to be proven is suspiscious to begin with"

"if proofs worked we could stop all talk of belief in God"

i have thought these things for a long time.

faith is never proven. we will never have all the information on God so we have to make the "leap of faith".

Soren, was a tremendous writer and i am blessed by his writing. i am also impressed with how he never spoke of being a christian, but instead becoming a christian.

my friend RD
05.12.05 (7:19 pm)   [edit]
RD was a guy i went to high school with back in the day. he was a loon, a complete madman, fearless, high ALL the time, and a hard-core skate-punk.

we had a friend who had a half pipe built between his house and the fence. it was 7 feet high, and a moster at the time. RD would get on the roof and drop into the half pipe at least 3 feet higher than the half pipe. 9 times out of 10 he would face plant, but that one time was a thing of beauty.

like i said he used A LOT of drugs, and drank like a fish. once after a party at his house i started up my van ( a beast of a chevy that was one big moving violation) and pulled away from his house. next thing i know there is RD with a bull whip and ala Idiana Jones he lashed ahold of my side view mirror and was on his skatebord yelling at me to go faster. when i hit about 30 mph, don't quote me this was 17 years ago and no i was not drunk or high mom, he let go of the whip and proceeded to fly into a curb and then tumble into someones yard. he got up and was laughing like a hyena, and wanted to go again. well needless to say the neighbors lights came on and we ran like school boys, cuz that's what we were.

RD, was a nice guy too. he wasn't very bright, probably a lot to do with the chemicals that destroyed a lot of his brain, but he came to school almost everyday. people liked him there and that was more than i think his parents felt for him.

every now and again i think about RD and pray for him. i wish i could go back and tell him about Jesus. i didn't then cuz that wouldn't have been cool. i hope he is well, and i hope that he is safe.

RD was like a lot of guys and girls i knew in school, too much too soon and never looking back or forward. parents that never really gave a rip about them, or just stopped trying. RD was lost and i hope that he has been found.

here's to all the RD's from then and now, may God grant you peace and joy.

a recipe for shayno chicken
05.05.05 (8:50 pm)   [edit]
here is a recipe for great grilled chicken. try it and enjoy.

here's what you need:

6 pack of your favorite beer.

1 whole chicken cut up and with the SKIN ON

2 tablespoons fresh minced garlic

the juice and zezt of one lemon

1/2 to 3/4 cup soy sauce

4 tablespoons (or to taste) tobasco brand hot sauce

1 2 liter bottle flat (all the bubbles gone) Dr. Pepper

here's what you do:

crack open a beer and think about how great it is that God gave us taste buds and beer.

combine all ingredients, save the chicken, into a big bowl mix it all up, and open another beer. drink this beer and thank God that not everything tastes like beer.

add the chicken to the bowl and cover it up in the fridge at least 4 hours, but overnight is better.

here is THE key. you have to cook it right. it has to be grilled outside, and you have to have a hot side on your grill and a medium side. if you use a propane grill, i pray for your soul that the Lord be merciful to you, but i guess it's better than no grill at all.

place the chicken on the HOT side of your grill fattest side down. let the flames do thier job and really almost blacken the chicken, not quite, but almost. then turn it over and do the same thing to the not so fatty side.

then you place the chicken on the medium side and let it finish cooking for about 15 to 20 minutes. if you want check it by piercing a breast and if clear juices flow your done. if the juices are bloddy you need to go longer, and if there are no juices well friend you just killed dinner, and perhaps you should call for pizza.

while it's cooking enjoy a few more beers and thank God for the delicious meat you are about to partake of.

imho, grilling is an art form and you may have to try this a few time to get it right, but i promise you when done right it is the best chicken you will ever eat.

i like to serve mine with a fresh green salad, and yellow squash that i also grill.

i only ask one thing, call it pride, but tell people it is shayno chicken.
